Plum and cinnamon open it with a little jasmine, honeyed dates, heliotrope and patchouli make the heart syrupy and boozy, and vanilla, Peru balsam, guaiac wood and sandalwood dry it down warm and resinous. Every bottle carries flakes of real 24-carat gold suspended in the juice, and every fragrance here is composed by one perfumer, Marie Salamagne.
The house writes in collections, each built around a place or a memory. Rose Omeyyade and Rouge Sarây come from the Collection Noire and the Levant - a jammy damask rose with raspberry and oud, and honeyed dates with plum and vanilla. Riviera Lazuli is the Mediterranean in lemon, cypress and cedar. Villa Primerose and Blue Madeleine come from the Memory Lane collection - a pear-bright rose musk named for the villa itself, and milky black tea with smoke for Proust's madeleine.
